Announcing the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition – REEFSCAPE Kick-off Events in Texas

San Antonio, Texas – We are thrilled to share that the kick-off events for the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition – REEFSCAPE season have been officially published for teams to sign up for on the FIRST website! As we embark on this exciting new season, teams across Texas are gearing up to receive their “kit of parts” and dive into the unique challenges and hands-on activities that REEFSCAPE has to offer.

Today, as the list of kick-off events went live on the FIRST website, our community of more than 190 registered teams eagerly checked the details, ready to plan their season’s start. We are excited to host FIRST in Texas kick-off events in San Antonio and McAllen, offering teams in the area the chance to come together to collect their kits and begin brainstorming their strategies for the competition.

A Note on the Lack of North Texas Kick-off Events

We’ve noted, just as you have, regarding the absence of a localized kick-off event in the North Texas area, where we have a vibrant community of over 55 teams. We understand the importance of these events in building excitement and momentum for the season, as well as in providing crucial resources and networking opportunities for our teams. We understand the importance of these events to be very local.

It’s important to clarify that the development and management of kick-off events have historically been handled directly by FIRST, and not delegated to Districts. If you have questions or concerns about this, please reach out to FIRST.

Looking Forward for 2026

To address this, FIRST in Texas will be working closely with FIRST during the off-season. Our goal is to take a more active role in the recruitment of hosts, publicizing these events, and ensuring they meet the high standards our teams expect. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to facilitate an enriching and accessible experience for all teams participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition program in Texas.

For teams looking for local options, we encourage you to select the closest event published by FIRST. Remember, you are always welcome to join us at our San Antonio or McAllen events, where you can expect the full support and hospitality of the FIRST in Texas family.
