San Antonio, Texas – At FIRST in Texas, we are dedicated to continually acknowledging and empowering girls in STEM. These remarkable young women are redefining possibilities by blending creativity with critical thinking, all while developing real-life skills and inspiring those around them. We are particularly grateful to Girl Scouts Southwest Texas for inviting us to their Adventure Day – San Antonio event on Sunday, October 13th. Here, teams from FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition will showcase who we are, what we do, and the profound impact FIRST in Texas has on young girls using its programs to inspire.
“I am profoundly proud of our partnership with the Girl Scouts. Their commitment to leading robotics teams exemplifies their dedication to empowering young women. Together, we’re not only surpassing national averages for women in STEM but also setting a new standard for what can be achieved. Their century of service is nothing short of remarkable, and we are grateful for their vibrant presence in our community. Here’s to continued success and inspiration for many more years to come. Thank you, Girl Scouts, for being a pivotal part of our journey and for helping us build a promising future for every young woman in Texas.” said Jason Arms, Executive Director of FIRST in Texas.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts Southwest Texas—an incredible milestone celebrating a century of inspiring girls to reach for the stars and fostering a community where they can “take risks, trust their instincts, and team up for good.” This mission aligns perfectly with FIRST in Texas, where we encourage girls to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and embrace challenges.
The Adventure Day San Antonio event will feature over 60 vendors offering hands-on experiences across four key focus areas: STEM, Life Skills, Outdoors, and Entrepreneurship. Attendees can look forward to exciting demonstrations, including live experiments by Kate the Chemist on the main stage! Activities will also include archery, rock wall climbing, and various outdoor obstacle courses. This event is open to girls and their families, as well as the public.
Join the Girl Scouts / FIRST in Texas from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Boeing Center at Tech Port for an exhilarating day filled with STEM engagement, skill development, and leadership opportunities, all while celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts Southwest Texas! Whether it’s building robots or earning badges, these experiences empower our girls to change the world!
