Celebrating the Launch of FIRST LEGO League “Office Hours” at FIRST in Texas!

09.18.2024

At FIRST in Texas, we’re always listening to our incredible community of coaches and volunteers, and we are thrilled to announce a new initiative designed to make your experience even better: FIRST LEGO League Office Hours!

Based on feedback from those who dedicate their time to mentoring and supporting the next generation of innovators, we recognized a need for more direct, accessible communication with program leaders. In response, we acted swiftly by creating senior leadership roles in key areas such as Head Referee and Judge Advisor to provide expertise and guidance to our valued coaches and volunteers. But we didn’t stop there.

To make it even easier for you to connect with these leaders, we launched weekly Office Hours! Now, coaches and volunteers can drop in and speak directly with their Local Program Delivery Coordinator, Senior Head Referee, or Senior Judge Advisor. Just two weeks in, we’ve already seen several coaches take advantage of this opportunity, and we’re committed to keeping this resource available through February 2025.

Here’s how Office Hours work: Visiting your local Padlet will give you the links to access Office Hours.

  • 1st Tuesday of each month: Drop in with your Local Program Delivery Coordinator to discuss program-specific questions.
  • 2nd Tuesday of each month: Get guidance from Senior Head Referee on the rules of the game and competition.
  • 3rd Tuesday of each month: Speak with the Senior Judge Advisor about judging criteria, and processes.

We’re incredibly proud of how this initiative is already helping to strengthen communication, answer important questions, and build confidence in our processes. It’s another way we’re ensuring that our FIRST LEGO League program is as supportive, transparent, and inspiring as possible for those who make it all happen—our coaches and volunteers.

“I am proud be able to lead such a cohesive and professional team of PDCs and senior volunteers to support FIRST LEGO League programs in Texas”, remarked Dr Dee Wallace, the FIRST in Texas FIRST LEGO League Operations Manager. “It takes a team of diverse members of the community, focused on the priorities of serving our kids to be successful… we have it” Dr Wallace added.

At FIRST in Texas, we believe that by providing clear, consistent access to key leaders, we’re empowering our coaches and volunteers to not only succeed but also celebrate every step of the journey. Together, we’re inspiring the next generation of STEM and business leaders who will continue to make Texas a hub of innovation and excellence.

Don’t forget to join us for Office Hours—your questions and feedback are invaluable!
