Austin, Texas – The recent Formula 1 and Aramco activation at the UT Austin campus was nothing short of extraordinary, seamlessly aligning with the mission of FIRST in Texas to inspire and engage the next generation of innovators and leaders. Spanning two thrilling days, this event offered participants a unique blend of STEM activities, soccer, and the electrifying world of Formula 1 racing. One of the standout features of the event was the “Energy Boost Challenge,” an interactive competition that combined physical activity with the excitement of prizes. Participants had the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills while competing for an official F1 cap and a chance to enter a raffle.

Day 2 elevated the excitement further with the involvement of FIRST Robotics Competition team Conspiracy Robots, #9506, and FIRST Tech Challenge team Spicy Ketchup, #16377. Both teams brought their unique flair and expertise, captivating audiences with their ability to move soccer balls in the Aramco activation and support of influencer and UT Austin alumni, Matt R King! Their contributions highlighted the diversity of skills within the FIRST community and reinforced the idea that collaboration is key to success in any engineering endeavor.
The event provided an exceptional platform to showcase the incredible work being done through the FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition programs. By engaging with a diverse audience that included students, alumni, educators, and industry professionals, we promoted our mission of fostering a love for STEM. Reconnecting with FIRST alumni proved to be a highlight, as they shared their journeys and the impact of their involvement in FIRST on their careers. Additionally, we actively recruited volunteers for our upcoming FRC events, emphasizing the importance of community involvement.
Thanks to this collaborative effort, participating FIRST in Texas teams were awarded a team grant for the 2024-2025 FIRST – DIVE season. This funding will provide essential resources and support, enabling teams to enhance their programs and engage even more students in the exciting world of robotics and engineering.
