STEM Stories with Spectrum News 1

06.27.2025

A huge thank you to Spectrum News 1 for giving FIRST in Texas the opportunity to shine a light on the power of STEM education and robotics in shaping future leaders. In this feature, Team 2281 Lady Cans and Team 17315 Tomahawk joined our Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, Eric J. van Gemeren, to share their FIRST experiences and the life-changing impact the program has had on students across Texas.

The segment highlighted how FIRST programs go beyond building robots, they build confidence, collaboration, and real-world skills in students from all backgrounds. Viewers heard directly from student participants about the growth they’ve experienced, from gaining technical knowledge to stepping into leadership roles. As Eric shared, “This is workforce development in action.”

FIRST in Texas continues to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators, and changemakers.
