Andrew has many years of involvement with FIRST as both a coach, mentor, and organizer of all things FIRST. Andrew firmly believes that partnerships and making decisions based upon input of others makes for stronger programs. His favorite core values are Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences and Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.

He founded one of the original 3 FRC teams in San Antonio while teaching in Edgewood ISD in 2001. He organized and hosted the 2nd FRC kick-off in Texas back in 2004. Andrew left the classrooms in March 2008 and served as the Texas Institute for Educational Robotics at Alamo Colleges – Northwest Vista College where he organized summer camps and teacher professional development. In that role, he was able to bring FTC and FLL to the region by serving as the Affiliate Partner. He continues to serve in those roles while being back in the classrooms of Lutheran High School of San Antonio. He coaches FTC teams and has mentored FLL teams with his lovely wife Gloria Schuetze. Alamo FTC was the founding host for the first 3 years of the FTC South Super Regional Championship and Alamo FTC continues to be one of the largest FTC Championships in North America.
