Executive Director
Jason Arms has been serving as the Executive Director of FIRST in Texas since 2021. He served as the Director of Operations and supervised FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition programs across Texas and lead the organizational recovery from the impact of a global pandemic by restructuring the leadership of the organization, refining delivery methods to maximize funds to supporting participants / events. He continues to build strategic partnerships with higher education institutions, industry leaders, corporations and government bodies to ensure the long-term sustainability and quality of STEM programs in Texas. Additionally, Jason serves as a representative on various STEM / business entities to promote the expansion of access to STEM programs for K-12.
Before becoming Executive Director, Jason served as a FIRST Program Delivery Partner (PDP) for FIRST Lego League and FIRST Tech Challenge in South Texas. In 2015, he founded FIRST RGV, an initiative that drove over 300% growth in FIRST teams throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Jason’s professional career prior to FIRST in Texas reflects a deep dedication to community service. He has held multiple government roles, including Police Officer, Fire Marshal, Volunteer Firefighter, Information Technology Director, Communications Director and Emergency Manager. Moreover, he led the establishment of departments within city governments, focusing on exceptional service in information technology, communications, and marketing.
Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to community development, Jason remains a driving force in promoting innovation, expanding accessibility, and ensuring excellence in STEM education for K-12 students across Texas!
