Professional Trainer
Orlando Montalvo, M.Ed. is a retired teacher with 29 years of experience in the high school and junior high school levels. He has taught middle school Life and Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and PLTW Engineering courses. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University Kingsville and his Masters of Education at the University of Texas Pan American (now UTRGV).
Orlando has been an FTC coach for Sharyland High School since the 2016-2017 Velocity Vortex season, and the Sharyland High School teams have been very successful since that season with 4 consecutive World Championship appearances (2019-2022) and one 5A State Champion (2023). Orlando is seeking to utilize his teaching and coaching experiences to help mentor new FIRST coaches and build more teams.
