Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem x Region 13 x FIRST in Texas Mentor Workshop
On December 6, the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem, Education Service Center Region 13, and FIRST in Texas partnered to host a Mentor Workshop that brought together more than 50 educators, industry professionals, and STEM advocates from across the Greater Austin area.
Attendees connected with STEM organizations throughout the region, learned about available resources, and explored new opportunities for collaboration. The workshop offered a meaningful afternoon of learning, networking, and inspiration, all centered on expanding access to high quality STEM experiences for students across Central Texas.
A highlight of the event was the student leader panel, where students from local FIRST Robotics teams shared how robotics has shaped their technical skills, leadership development, and future goals. Their energy, confidence, and insight were truly inspiring and showcased the powerful impact of hands on STEM education supported by mentors and community partners.
“Students on the panel did a fantastic job articulating why this program matters, and all the students at the event demonstrated their robots and technical skills impressively. Those interactions between students and community partners create real opportunities and show why FIRST deserves investment from industry and education leaders in Central Texas,” said Claire Rowan, event coordinator.
