Important Update on the Future of FIRST® LEGO® League

For nearly three decades, FIRST® and LEGO® Education have partnered to deliver FIRST LEGO® League, introducing millions of students to STEM through hands-on learning, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. 

FIRST in Texas has proudly served as a program delivery organization, and this season alone we have reached more than 1,000 Explore and Challenge teams across the state through 50+ events.

This morning, FIRST® and LEGO® Education shared that LEGO® Education has chosen not to renew its partnership agreement. As a result, the 2026–2027 season will be the final FIRST® LEGO® League season.

What This Means

• The 2026–2027 FLL Challenge season will run as planned with the theme announced at World Festival on May 2nd. 
• All current program elements, including Explore and Challenge, will continue through next season.

FIRST in Texas Commitment to Our K–8 Community

FIRST in Texas remains deeply committed to supporting and growing K–8 STEM opportunities across our state.

• We are actively planning and preparing for the 2026–2027 FIRST LEGO® Explore and Challenge seasons across Texas.
• We are fully committed to continuing K–8 programming in Texas.
• We are in discussions with FIRST HQ about development of a replacement program.
• We will collaborate closely with our FLL Advisory Council to gather input and support our community through this transition
• We will provide ongoing updates and communication as more information becomes available
