For the past five years, Chasity Keulemans has been a familiar face across FIRST in Texas events, wearing more hats than most could count. From FLL Coach and Tournament Volunteer to Referee, Judge, MC, Qualifier Host, Volunteer Coordinator, mentor to other schools and teams, and member of the FLL Challenge Advisory Council, her impact can be felt in nearly every corner of the program. The number of roles Chasity has taken on almost compares to the number of hats she has worn, reflecting her deep commitment to serving students and supporting the FIRST in Texas community!

Chasity’s journey with FIRST in Texas began in the classroom. After running an after school STEM club for nearly five years, she was eager to bring robotics into the mix. Once her principal approved the idea and provided funding, she jumped in. What started as a single opportunity quickly turned into a passion for both coaching students and volunteering throughout the FiT community.
Among her many roles, refereeing at tournaments stands out as a favorite, but stepping into the MC role brought a whole new level of excitement! Meeting students from different teams, sharing in their energy, and seeing their pride on display is what makes every event unforgettable. Each tournament is filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and genuine joy that carries long after the final match ends.

The most rewarding moments come from watching teams celebrate their accomplishments, no matter how big or small. Seeing students build confidence, overcome challenges, and support one another is a constant reminder of the life changing impact FIRST has on young people.
Volunteering with FIRST in Texas has shaped Chasity not only as an educator, but as a leader and individual. The experience has strengthened her connection to the STEM community and reinforced the importance of creating spaces where students feel supported, capable, and excited to learn.
