The three divisions of FIRST LEGO League inspire the youngest STEM-inspired students to experiment and grow their critical thinking through hands-on theme-based challenges which change from season to season.

FIRST LEGO League Discover for children ages 4-6, is a playful introductory STEM program ignites their natural curiosity and builds their habits of learning with hands-on activities in the classroom and at home using LEGO® Duplo bricks. In FIRST LEGO League Explore, teams of 2 to 6 students ages 6-10 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design and code, and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO Education WeDo 2.0. Teams present their findings in the form of a team poster and a LEGO model that moves.
COSTS
$375 – $600 first season (then $150 – $400 per season)
Includes:
- $99 +S&H – Team Registration (annual dues)
- $205+S&H – LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set (re-usable each year)
- $25 – $50 – Festival registration fees (varies by Region and Event)
- $50 – $250 (optional) – Additional LEGO minfigures and brick sets, team apparel, meals, materials, promotional items for team spirit.

Friendly competition is at the heart of FIRST LEGO League Challenge, as teams of up to 10 students students ages 9-14 engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering – building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of Challenge, teams also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem. Each Challenge season has three parts: the Robot Game, the Innovation Project, and the FIRST Core Values.
COSTS
$1,500 – $3,000 first season (then $1,000 – $2,500 per season)
Includes:
- $225 +S&H – Team Registration (annual dues)
- $75 – Challenge Set (new each year)
- $410-$535+S&H – LEGO Education SPIKE Prime or MINDSTORMS EV3 Robot Set Bundle (re-usable each year)
- $75 – $150 – Qualifier registration fees (varies by Region and Event)
- $500 – $1,000 – Additional LEGO sets, team apparel, meals, presentation materials, promotional items for team spirit, travel if the event is out of town; competitions are single day events.
