CEO OF DISCREETIZE, FOUNDER OF ITKAN INSTITUTE

Mohamed Ebeida is the CEO of a newly formed startup called Discreetize. He is a former research scientist at Sandia National Laboratories. His main areas of expertise are computational geometry and sampling methods. He graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2008 with a Ph.D. in mechanical and aeronautical engineering and a master’s in applied mathematics. He worked as a postdoc at Carnegie Mellon University for two years. In 2010, he joined Sandia National Laboratories, where he explores innovative techniques to automate solutions for the meshing with guaranteed quality problem. He solved multiple open problems in sampling and Voronoi meshing. Mohamed has over 50 publications and 4 patents. In 2018, he received the Up-and-Coming Innovator Award from Sandia National Laboratories for his impactful innovations, entrepreneurial talent, and development of unique solutions to complex scientific challenges. Mohamed is also the founder of Itkan Institute of Technology, a non-profit organization that aims to inspire youth from underserved, underrepresented communities to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Five years after its establishment in 2021, Itkan is now the largest fastest-growing youth robotics network in TX and the United States with more than 40 chapters in 14 states. Itkan is the home of top teams in the World including Itkan Robotics FRC 9128, Itkan Girls FRC 10340, Itkan Solar FTC 19564, and Itkan Lunar FTC 21171.
